Five-star event horse Archie Rocks (Le Monde—Unbridled Diva, Unbridled Jet) was euthanized on Oct. 26 after falling on cross-country at the Pau CCI5*-L (France). The fall occurred at Fence 28B.
“Archie Rocks suffered an irreparable shoulder fracture, considered to be severe by the veterinarians on the site,” said Felix Vogg, rider and co-owner. “Despite all efforts to save him, we have had to take the difficult decision to put him to sleep.”
A former race horse, the 11-year-old Thoroughbred gelding got his international start with Maya Simmons in 2015. Simmons developed him to the CCI4* level before Buck Davidson took over the ride in 2018. That December, “Archie” changed hands to Vogg, of Switzerland.
“Archie was a very special horse in many respects,” said Vogg. “Special thoughts go to all his American fans, who have given him their support throughout his career. He was outstanding on the cross-country, a sweet horse who gave his best to his rider.”
